Ringing up the Customers

A year ago I started working at a home improvement center downtown. I got a job ringing up the customers at the cash register, which at the time I was incredibly grateful to get. But now I haven’t been able to save any money and I’m starting to get really worried. My days are consumed with ringing up hammers and nails and Panasonic bathroom fans, which isn’t exactly very intellectually stimulating. I really messed up while I was at college, but my head wasn’t in it when I was there and I knew that I was wasting a great deal of time there. But now everything is different and I’m starting to realize that I made a huge mistake. I really don’t see any future in this job and I really want to quit it now, but the economy is so bad that I have no idea where I would even try to start making a living. There’s always this one customer who comes in that sells outdoor heaters, and he always tells me that he could use me as a salesman, so I’m thinking that I might give him a call. He comes to my line all the time and is always impressed with my professionalism, so maybe this job will lead to something after all.
